The next day Mr Gendall brought his young dog Sally to meet us in Room 7. Sally was a lot more active and we got to practise what we had learnt the day before. It was a bit scary when Sally wanted to lick or moved suddenly, but it showed us that we needed to be calm and not wave our arms around, even though we may be scared. We also watched Sally fetch the ball.

Dog Safety
This week the whole school learnt about dog safety. We learnt how to approach a dog and its owner and that we needed to ask first before we patted a dog we had never met. We learnt that chin and chest is the best place to pat them. We then learnt that if we ever meet a dog on its own to leave it alone. We also learnt that if a dog pushed us over that we need to do a turtle and stay still. Virginia the dog handler gave us ideas about when a dog shouldn't be approached. Finally some of the children were allowed to practise and ask to pat Amber the Golden Retriever. She was very old and not at all jumpy.
